Hackintosh netbook compatibility updated (No Comments)

Boing Boing's gadget blog has updated the list of potential hackintosh netbooks. You can ponder the whole thing or cut to the chase: "...get a HP Mini 1000 or a Dell Mini 9/Vostro A90." While the Mini 9 has been discontinued, the Vostro A90 is apparently a rebadged version of the highly hackable Dell and it works just as well as the original.

The Eee 1000H also scored highly. There are 21 machines on the chart, each scored across 10 items like working Wi-Fi, Ethernet, sound board and so on.

Our own Steven Sande wrote about his experiences with turning a Dell Mini 9 into a hackintosh. His experience was less than optimal, but your own may differ (those Windows and Intel stickers sure do look sweet).

In related news, the fabled and still non-existent "iTablet" is rumored to be coming this year or next, depending on whom you choose to believe. As for me, I'd be happy enough to pick up a 13" MacBook Pro and call it a day. It's small enough for a daily ride in my backpack and is a genuine Mac. But as my hacker friends would say, "Where's the fun in that?"

Bubble Twirrl (No Comments)

Rather than shooting bubbles on a static platform, Bubble Twirrl features a bubble board that rotates with every shot you take. The goal is to eliminate bubbles by connecting at least three bubbles in a row!

The goal of Bubble Twirrl is to eliminate all of the bubbles on the board by creating groups of three or more bubbles of the same color. To successfully eliminate the bubbles, strategically choose the placement of your bubbles by shooting the rotating platform accordingly.

Playing Cards (No Comments)

Playing Cards offers an experience just like a real deck of cards. With Playing Cards on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can take a deck of cards with you wherever you go and play almost any two-player card game with any other iPhone or iPod touch* user nearby.

Every game starts out with a standard 52-count (54 with Joker cards) card deck, with the ability to transfer cards between the draw pile, the discard pile, your hand, and if you are connected to another iPhone or iPod touch… the other player’s hand.

Connect to a nearby iPhone or iPod touch* to start a two-player card game. Two-player mode uses Bluetooth and doesn’t require an internet connection, so you can still play with a nearby friend even if you are on-the-go.

With the ability to transfer, flip, and shuffle cards you can play almost any two-player card game!

Here are some examples of games that you can play:
? Five-Card Draw Poker
? Blackjack (21)
? Gin
? Go Fish!
? Crazy Eights
? Old Maid
? and more!

NOTE: IN SINGLE-PLAYER MODE, PLAYING CARDS DOES NOT PLAY AGAINST YOU AS A COMPUTER. PLAYING CARDS WAS DESIGNED SIMPLY TO DUPLICATE THE EXPERIENCE OF A REAL DECK OF CARDS.

Features include:
? Transfer cards by dragging cards to different sides of screen
? Rotate iPhone/iPod to change between hand, draw pile, and discard pile
? Shake to shuffle cards
? Double-tap to flip cards
? Layout your hand by ranks/suits (books) or in a fan
? Transfer cards to top or bottom of draw and discard piles
? How-to-play guide

* Two-player mode is compatible with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, and iPod touch (2nd Generation). The original iPhone and original iPod touch can only play in single-player mode.
