Finally!!! The update has been released to the Facebook app for the iPhone. If you can’t get it to show up in the updates, just uninstall it by holding your finger on the icon until it wiggles and then tap x. Just reinstall now via iTunes on your iPhone. Here are some great new features:
- See your upcoming Events and RSVP
- See your friends’ birthdays
- See Pages and post updates and photos to Pages you administer
- Write Notes and read your friends’ Notes
- Upload videos from an iPhone 3GS
- Upload photos to any album

Facebook 3.0 for iPhone released

After a couple of weeks of waiting in the iTunes app store approval queue, the 3rd major update of the popular Facebook for iPhone [iTunes Link] application has been released. Joe Hewitt, the developer of the app, has been working on it for quite some time and submitted it for review on 8/16. If you're still seeing 2.5 in the app store, Joe suggests deleting the app from your phone and reinstalling it -- it will be 3.0.The new version includes some of the most requested features including:
- Better news feed with direct links to comments
- Ability to "Like" posts
- RSVP to events
- Create/upload photos to albums
- Write/edit notes
- Customizable home screen
- Improved photo viewing with zoom
- Better notifications

Yelp for iPhone’s hidden augmented reality feature

Earlier today I was reading about Metro Paris Subway [iTunes link], the first augmented reality (AR) app to hit the App Store and lamenting the fact that there wasn't an AR app for me to play with. Then we noticed this tip from Robert Scoble: It seems that Yelp for the iPhone has a hidden augmented reality feature. I downloaded the app and tried it out. I'm glad to say it works, but only on iPhone 3GS. Here's how to activate it (again, note that a 3GS iPhone is required):
- Grab the app here
- Launch it and shake your phone. Robert says you need to shake it 3 times. I got it working with one good shake, while other TUAW bloggers needed more than 3.
- A message appears indicating that you've activated "Monocle." That's what they call the AR feature.
- A monocle button appears on the top right of the app. Press it.
The screen is a bit jumpy and you've got to hold the phone REALLY still to get a good look. Plus, unlike Metro Paris Subway, the graphics depicting the different business aren't distinguishable (restaurant vs. bar, or example). Still, it's a lot of fun and a free way to play with augmented reality. Check out the gallery below for screenshots.

Su AppStore è stato appena rilasciato Facebook 3.0.
Già in passato vi abbiamo ampiamente parlato di tutte le novità di questa nuova versione, che ricordiamo essere:

- Visualizza le pagine e le foto aggiornate
- Scrivi e visualizza le note

L’aggiornamento non è stato ancora indicizzato, per cui se AppStore ancora non lo segnala disinstallate e reinstallate Facebook.
L’update è ora normalmente disponibile su AppStore.

biteSMS 4.3 beta 4 disponibile su Cydia

Da poche ore è stata rilasciata la beta 4 di biteSMS 4.3
Vediamo tutte le novità:
- Corretto il bug di compatibilità con iGo, di cui vi avevamo parlato qui.
- Possibilità di effettuare un “forward” dal menù copia/incolla
- Short Code: per creare delle faccine personalizzate
- “Default Last To”: in quick compose è ora possibile abilitare questa opzione che consente di inserire automaticamente il numero di telefono della persona a cui abbiamo inviato l’ultimo messaggio
- Corretti alcuni bug

E dopo un’estenuante attesa ecco arrivare il tanto atteso aggiornamento per Facebook, l’applicazione mobile per iPhone che permette di accedere ad uno dei più famosi social network presenti al mondo. Come vi avevamo già anticipato più volte, è un update ricco di novità che aggiunge moltissime nuove funzioni, corregge molti bug ed introduce una completa e rivista interfaccia grafica. Ecco di seguito il changelog e le novità introdotte:
- Una nuova schermata principale divisa in 9 sezioni che permette un accesso facilitato alle varie opzioni, alla ricerca e alle notifiche
- Sezione “News Feed”
- Eventi
- Note
- Pagine
- Possibilità di creare nuovi album fotografici
- Possibilità di caricare foto in ogni album
- Zoom nelle foto
- Sistema di Tagging semplificato
- Album profili
- Possibilità di aggiungere i profili e le pagine preferite alla Schermata Principale
- Migliorano anche le Notifiche (con collegamenti diretti ai commenti per rispondere velocemente)
- I messaggi che stiamo scrivendo resteranno salvati anche se riceviamo una telefonata (o altri tipi di interruzioni)
- Possibilità di caricare video dall’iPhone 3GS.
Facebook 3.0 è compatibile con iPhone ed iPod Touch, richiede il firmware 3.0 o successivo ed è localizzato in molte lingue tra cui l’Italiano. Ecco un video dimostrativo realizzato dai ragazzi di TechCrunch:
Nota: l’aggiornamento non è ancora stato indicizzato. Dovrebbe essere questione di minuti ma per chi non volesse attendere basta semplicemente disinstallare e reinstallare l’applicazione per provare la nuova ed attesa applicazione. Buon download!

Disponibile Facebook 3.0 per iPhone e iPod Touch

Dopo settimane di attesa, è stato finalmente rilasciato Facebook 3.0 per iPhone e iPod Touch. Il programma permette una completa gestione del noto portale di social networking e ripara molte pecche della versione 2.5, per molti ritenuta inutilizzabile.
Ora potrete:
- aggiungere il “mi piace” alle conversazioni
- gestire gli eventi
- visualizzare il nuovo lettore di discussioni
- accedere alle note
- accedere alla fan page
- creare nuovi album di foto, inserire foto in album già esistenti, ingrandire le foto e taggarle
- caricare i video direttamente dall’iPhone se avete un 3Gs
e molto altro. Il programma pesa 1,3 MB e si scarica gratis dall’App Store. Vi ricordo che esiste anche la fan page di Melamorsicata a cui potrete iscrivervi.
