Who’s the hottest person you know? Where’s the hottest place to go? Where’s everyone hanging out right now? Myallo HotList shows who’s hot and where, moment by moment, in a way no other app can!

Add your friends and favorite places, and set a “Basic Hotness” for each. HotList continually computes a “Current Hotness” based on your setting, their proximity to you and to each other, their relevance to things you specify, and other factors.

Is everyone gathering at the Mall? That makes the Mall hotter. Is Joe in town? That makes him hotter. Or is he hanging out with that not-so-hot person – that cools him down.

HotList knows your location and optionally sends it to Twitter. It also tracks your friends locations, if they sent theirs to Twitter. As you and they move about, hotness is recalculated and people and places bubble up and down the list dynamically.

If friends gather together, they get hotter. If they go to a hot place, they get hotter and so does the place. Know what’s hot right now, at a glance!

See the locations of people and places as “blips” on the HotList Radar map. Blips move as they and you do. Check their distance and direction, invoke the Maps app for directions from your location to theirs at a touch. See their latest Twitter status message. Have the Radar automatically show the current hottest person or place.

HotList can also automatically discover additional hot Places via Yelp. Nearby places are optionally added to the list, and hotness is calculated based on proximity, online reviews people have written on yelp.com, and other factors. As you move about, distant places disappear and new nearby ones are discovered.

Also, enter Things (topics) and your level of interest in them, and HotList will consider it when calculating hotness. For example, if you add a Thing for “Great” and another for “Italian”, and reviews of a Place mention “Great Italian food”, the hotness of that place will rise.

Il DevTeam, pochi minuti fa, ha fatto un passo indietro. Dapprima infatti si era sostenuto che il nuovo modello di iPod Touch 2G da 8GB potesse essere ancora vulnerabile all’exploit “24kpwn” e che quindi tutti gli utenti avrebbero potuto avere un “untethered jailbreak”, ora, invece, la situazione si è capovolta:

I recenti modelli di iPod Touch 2G non sono vulnerabili, e non lo sono nemmeno gli iPod Touch 3G ed i nuovi iPhone 3GS che arriveranno anche in Italia nei prossimi giorni (davvero pochi). L’unica soluzione sarà il tethered Jailbreak fino a quando non si troverà qualcosa di alternativo che riesca a mandare in crash l’iBoot. Non ci sono informazioni sui tempi e quest’operazione potrebbe richiedere anche molto tempo.

Purtroppo le notizie non sono delle migliori e continueremo ad aggiornarvi sull’intera faccenda.

In questo video viene mostrata un’applicazione, ancora in fase di sviluppo, che sfrutta a pieno la realtà aumentata su iPhone 3GS.

Grazie a questa applicazione possiamo disegnare oggetti e fargli prendere letteralmente vita, muovendoli e gestendoli a piacimento.

E’ stato appena rilasciato un piccolo aggiornamento per RoqyGPS che arriva alla versione 0.9-1-1. Ricordiamo che l’applicazione permette agli utenti iPhone/iPod Touch 2G di comunicare con un ricevitore GPS esterno, tramite Bluetooth. In questo modo si potrà equipaggiare il proprio dispositivo (soprattutto iPhone EDGE ed iPod Touch 2G/3G), di un nuovo GPS da utilizzare con le applicazioni TomTom, iGo, Navigon etc. RoqyGPS ha bisogno di una licenza che può essere acquistata sottoforma di donazione da 8€ direttamente dal sito ufficiale.

Download e Requisiti:

• Release ufficiale RoqyGPS 0.9-1-1;
• MobileTerminal, che trovate su Cydia;
• OpenSSH, che trovate su Cydia;
• Client SSH come WinSCP (Windows) o Cyberduck (Mac).

Questa release contiene una piccola correzione di un bug che non permetteva la corretta visualizzazione dei dati GPS.

Passo 1 – Installazione

1. Dopo aver scaricato il deb, entriamo in SSH tramite un client apposito per il nostro sistema operativo e copiamo il file precedentemente caricato nella cartella “/tmp”;

2. Apriamo MobileTerminal e digitiamo le seguenti parole seguite da un invio:

su root
alpine
dpkg -i /tmp/roqyBT-0.9.1-1.deb

3. Usciamo dal terminale, riavviamo il dispositivo e dovremo trovarci l’applicazione direttamente sulla nostra springboard.

Passo 2 – Attivazione

Il programma ha bisogno di essere attivato tramite una registrazione. Se l’avete gà fatto in passato non c’è bisogno di eseguire questo passo in quanto vi verrà riconosciuta automaticamente. Per registrare un nuovo dispositivo seguite questi semplici step:

1. Apriamo roqyGPS e facciamo un tap sulla voce “Licence Manager”;

2. Scendendo in basso vedremo la voce “Serial” e subito sotto la voce “Click here to send the email“. Cliccandoci su si aprirà automaticamente l’applicazione mail con tutti i dati già inseriti e quindi non dovremo fare altro che tappare su “Invia”. Nel caso non abbiate la possibilità di inviare l’email per la licenza tramite iPhone/iPod, vi basterà inviarne una da computer all’indirizzo licence@roqy-bluetooth.net scrivendo, al suo interno, il codice che troviamo sotto la voce “Serial“.

3. Attendiamo la risposta del developer (dovrebbe richiedere poco tempo) ed inseriamo il codice nell’ultimo box in basso della schermata “Licence Manager”.

Passo 3 – Connessione ad un ricevitore GPS esterno

1. Verifichiamo che il nostro ricevitore GPS esterno sia acceso e non troppo distante;

2. Disabilitamo il Bluetooth nel nostro iPhone/iPod Touch;

3. Apriamo roqyBluetooth;

4. Comincerà uno scan automatico dei dispositivi disponibili al collegamento.

5. Si aprirà un popup che ci mostrerà i dispositivi trovati e basterà selezionare la voce relativa alla nostra antenna GPS per effettuare il collegamento

6. Vedremo cambiare automaticamente la schermata e ci verrà mostrata una pagina dalla quale potremo visualizzare le informazioni ricevute dall’antenna.

7. Per disconnettere il dispositivo tappiamo su “disconnect”. una volta usciti dall’applicazione il bluetooth verrà disabilitato automaticamente.

It was freezing this morning as the Manhasset Long Island, NY Apple store opened for business. Employees wearing T-Shirts (they weren't allowed to wear coats), ran up and down the waiting line of hundreds of people both pumping up the crowd and trying to stay warm. The enthusiasm was contagious as orange shirted people shouted out that the store would be open in 15 minutes, 10 minutes, 5 minutes, and then the doors opened to seemingly dozens of Apple workers handing out T-shirts and applauding loudly as each new group of 20 people or so were let in the huge glass doors. The first 1,000 people were handed black T-shirts that said 'Manhasset' on the front and 'Designed by Apple in California' on the back.

The store is free standing and much larger than the one at the Walt Whitman Mall, my usual Apple store. The front and back of the store are glass walls and there is plenty of open space. Hopefully this store will take some of the burden off of the other Long Island stores which are usually crowded and have multi-day waits to get an appointment at the Genius Bar.

Steven Troughton-Smith, dopo averci stupito prima con gli Stack e poi con Orbit, ha rilasciato una nuova applicazione in Cydia, ancora in fase di test. Si tratta di iDashboard, già vista su iSpazio in questo articolo. Per chi non lo sapesse, la Dashboard è già inclusa in Mac OS X e permette di accedere ai Widget come l’orologio analogico, il traduttore, la calcolatrice etc.

Per ora nel “porting” per iPhone sono disponibili soltanto l’ orologio e la calcolatrice, ma in futuro verranno implementati anche gli altri widget.

L’ installazione è molto semplice ed il richiamo avverrà tramite il tasto Home. Ecco i passaggi:

1. Aggiungete la repo di BeYouriPhone: http://repo.beyouriphone.com/
2. Andate su Cydia e cercare “iDashboard” (Se già non la possedete, scaricate anche “Winterboard”)
3. Aprite Winterboard e abilitate “Dashboard”
4. Andate in Impostazioni > Generali > Home > attivate Dashboard e disattivate Controlli iPod

Come già detto, l’applicazione è ancora in fase beta, quindi aspettatevi una Dashboard con poche funzionalità e ancora molto macchinosa. Le prossime versioni saranno sicuramente migliori, dato che questo sviluppatore ha già dimostrato le sue capacità.
